Gambians Should Not Be Provoked By Jammeh’s Bluffs. He Will Leave, Diya Kuya
By Prince Bubacarr Aminata Sankanu, Germany
My fellow compatriots, as I have been repeatedly commenting on my Facebook/social media timeline, Jammeh is still President till Wednesday, the 18 January 2017. Whatever he says or does till this date should not intimidate us. The bluffs and rants are the proverbial last kicks of a dying horse.
Fact is, Gambian voters have fired him and he will leave whether he likes it or not. Another fact is that his so-called petition cannot stop the inauguration of President Barrow. Jammeh also set a legal precedent on the 19 January 2012 when he ignored the petition of UDP/Ousainou Darboe against the presidential elections before then the Supreme Court. No need to explain other legal matters. Mercenary judges and lawyers he is retaining will just enjoy his money before dumping him.
Besides, Jammeh is isolated locally, regionally and globally and I don’t think even the greediest Gambian soldier, civil servant, party militant or business person would like to stain him or herself with a rejected pariah.
All other seemingly "scary" things he will be saying before the cameras are part of his freedom of expression and should not be seen as final decision on the destiny of our nation.
As Honourable Halifa Sallah said on behalf of President Adama Barrow and The Barrow Coalition, go about your businesses and social activities. Do not be provoked by acting in a way that could be used by Jammeh to launch armed aggression against Gambian people towards the 18 January 2017. He is desperately looking for that.
The civilized world is behind Gambia. Let us remain level-headed till the 19 January 2017, the day President Adama Barrow's term begins. Jammeh is being delusional and his last minute big-mouthism is a futile attempt at testing our resilience...We shall not be cowed. His time is up and he will leave "DIYA KUYA" (Mandinka for whether he likes it or not). The Office of The President of The Republic of The Gambia is not Jammeh's exclusive birth-right and private family property.
I have already expressed by unflinching recognition of, and loyalty to, President-Elect Adama Barrow and The Coalition in my Sarahulleh language video message of 03 December 2016: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y6JeVwRBbD8.
Looking forward to attending the inauguration of President Adama Barrow on the 19 January 2017 in The Gambia.
