CHRG Gives New Year Wishes to its Partners and Supporters.
Calls on the International Community to Support Initiatives to bring President Jammeh and his Thugs to Justice.
As we enter 2016 the international community is again reminded that President Yahya Jammeh`s tyranny against the people of the Gambia is on a monumental scale, state repression knows no bounds, as evidence by the continuous detention without trials, torture, summary execution and enforced disappearances.
President Jammeh and his government no longer cares about the welfare of the Gambian people. The dictatorship is now ruling by brute force, fear continues to reign in the country, civil society organisations have all been cowed down as a result of repression and thousands of Gambians have fled to exile running from the brutal dictatorship that have swept the Gambia since 1994.

But more must be done urgently, Campaign for Human Rights in The Gambia UK(CHRG) therefore calls on the International community to redouble  efforts in ensuring President Jammeh and his thugs are brought to justice for crimes against the people of the Gambia. Failure to act on the dire situation in The Gambia will be devastating for the defenceless population who have been held on their throat by a very vicious dictator, we hope 2016 will see more actions from the international community than the usual press releases.
The international Community has the power to use international Human rights laws to  bring Jammeh to  justice.
Most countries in the world today have signed and ratified the  UN Convention Against Torture and many have incorporated it into their domestic laws.UN Convention Against Torture empowers all signatory states to arrest and prosecute anyone who commits, authories,or condone  torture anywhere in the world. It has a universal jurisdiction we hope the international community will act on this very important opportunity.
In light of the dire human rights situation in the Gambia,CHRG will continue to consult and confer with its partners and supporters to do something pratical and effective through advocacy and lobbying to mobilise the international community against the systematic abuse of human rights in The Gambia. It is time to end the culture of impunity in The Gambia.
